About this species

The Bengal Florican is a critically endangered bustard of tall terai grasslands — males perform spectacular vertical display jumps during breeding season. Fewer than 1,000 individuals remain globally. Kaziranga, Dudhwa, and Manas preserve the last viable Indian populations in their floodplain grasslands.
