About this species

One of India's most beautiful antelopes, the Blackbuck male's spiralling horns and bold black-and-white coat make it instantly recognisable. Once numbering in the millions, it was hunted to near-extinction. Today Velavadar in Gujarat hosts the world's largest blackbuck herd — thousands of animals visible at once during the winter months.
