About this species

The Crab Plover is a unique, striking black-and-white shorebird with a massive, laterally compressed bill for cracking crabs. It visits India's coasts in winter and breeds on Lakshadweep and the Gulf of Kutch. Its white-and-black plumage and distinctive bill make it unlike any other shorebird.
